Located in Colne, Lancashire, the Victoria Hall was screening films from 1909. In 1922 alterations were carried out and it re-opened on 18th September 1922 as the Savoy Cinema. It was taken over by the Star Cinemas chain in September 1949 and they were still operating it in 1954. It was closed on 10th June 1960. It was re designed to make way for Scott’s Supermarket in mid-1960’s, and later became Tesco Supermarket. And now present day Farmfoods frozen food centre is in residence.
It stood on the corner of Market Street and Skelton Street. |
Here at the Little Savoy
we are looking to help our local community by interacting with each other old and young,
this is a worthy and uplifting cause helping the elderly with alzheimer's / dementia integrate with local people making them feel wanted and not just cooped up in their own homes or care homes, integrating them with the younger generation so that both old and young can experience memories of the past and helping towards a brighter future for the elderly.
If you have a family member suffering in silence and would like to know more then please get in touch
i'm sure the little savoy can help....
Our Film Club is all on one level , we hold around 74 seats, we have disabled access and toilets and is a warm and friendly environment for our local community to meet hope to see you there.....

WHY THE NAME LITTLE SAVOY
Although we are not a propper picture house and just a film club we have a world war 1 nissan hut which has been renovated into a community centre where all generations can enjoy daily activities, we have installed a cinema screen and a pop up ticket office just for show just to give you the Picture House experience. We have called it the Little Savoy because in the town during 1909 and 1960 we had a savoy cinema, so we are preserving the past by keeping the name which local people can relate to.
